Former World Cruiserweight Champion Jean-Marc Mormeck takes a considerable jump in an opponent when he takes on former Lennox Lewis conqueror Hasim “The Rock” Rahman on December 2nd in Paris, France.
After two close unanimous decision victories in his first two heavyweight contests against Vinny Maddalone and his last outing, Fres Oquendo, in May, Mormeck faces the dangerous power puncher from Baltimore.
Rahman, 37, has knocked out his last four opponents, two in the first round, since losing his third world title tilt against Wladimir Klitschko in 2008.
“The Rock” won the world title in 2001, sensationally knocking out arguably the best heavyweight of his generation, Lennox Lewis. However, he lost the title in the rematch seven months later when he was badly knocked out.
Mormeck is now 38 and held the unified cruiserweight title until being knocked out by David Haye, who himself has moved up to heavyweight with considerable success, claiming the WBA Title.
If the Frenchman comes through against Rahman, then a rematch with the Briton could be on the horizon for Mormeck.
