When he returns from a one-year suspension, Ryan Garcia wants to make a big splash by challenging the pound-for-pound king Terence Crawford.
The Golden Boy star, who has caused a stir with his unhinged comments since February, offered Crawford a fight after shredding the super welterweight champion’s career path.
Speaking to Say Cheese on YouTube, Garcia pointed out, “Terence Crawford really hasn’t beat anybody other than Errol Spence, but he went through a car crash.
“Can you name one guy he beat other than Spence that’s well known? Crawford isn’t like that. He’s an overhyped bum.”
Talking directly to Crawford, Garcia added, “You f***ing suck, bro. You are wasting everybody’s money. You are not entertaining. You’re boring as f***!
“Come see me in the ring if you think I’m talking s***!”
Garcia is currently serving a twelve-month ban for testing positive for ostarine during his clash with Devin Haney in April. ‘Kingry’ flagged for ostarine before claiming contamination. Once that theory was disproven, Garcia agreed to accept his punishment and will not return to action until April 2025.
Facing Crawford without a warm-up would be a dangerous game for Garcia to play after he recently began training again with coach Derrick James. But judging by his callout, Garcia seemingly intends to move up from 140 pounds after his victory over Haney. In his latest bout, Crawford headed north from 147 pounds when defeating Israil Madrimov. Garcia would then have to pile on a full fourteen pounds if he intended to battle the Omaha man next year.
Crawford will likely be out of action until the spring anyway, as his current routine is fighting once yearly. However, this scenario won’t help his P4P rating after he regained the top spot last month.
Following the Haney win, Garcia cracked the top ten for the first time in his career, only to be thrown out of the WBN Top 50 after testing positive.
