The Vinita fighter came out amateurishly swinging from the opening bell and was soon punished by Renty, who put him down within 30 seconds of the first round. Morrison showed he had the heart of his world champion father though by picking himself up and duly went on the attack once more.
After connecting with a couple of uppercuts by the end of the opening session, it was clear Morrison had the power to finish the contest, with Renty continually ducking into the ropes to avoid punishment – something which also cost him two points in the fight.
Micking his father’s side to side head movement at times, Morrison clearly has the physique to be a force in the division, although the nerves that come with carrying on the family business will have to be controlled better in his next fight.
A laspe of concentration saw Trey Lippe on the canvas early in the second by a debatable flash knockdown, but Morrison then connected with another sweet uppercut midway through the round that saw referee Gary Ritter step in with Renty prone in the corner.
Morrison, who is trained by Peppe Johnson, is due out again within the next month, although has a long way to go in the paid ranks to follow in the footsteps of his famous dad, who tragically passed away through illness last year.
