Oscar De La Hoya says his abdominals are real after denying claims he paid for abdominal implants to make his muscles pop out.
When unveiling his midriff in January 2023, De La Hoya instantly started gossiping that he’d been under the knife. Those claims weren’t far from the truth despite the Golden Boy Chairman clarifying that nothing was inserted into his body.
Speaking to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, De La Hoya opened up after the host asked the invasive question everybody wanted him to ask.
Sharpe said, “You mentioned that you were training your AI abs. Were you serious?”
De La Hoya responded, “This is what happened; there are no fake abs; you can’t get fake abs. It’s called etching, where the plastic surgeon goes in. It’s kind of like liposuction, but he etches your abs.
“My abs are already there, so they just etch them in between so they pop out more, and that’s all it is. Now it’s up to me to keep these abs because I must work out and eat right. But they are mine, and it’s real.”
When he revealed why he decided to get the procedure, De La Hoya credited his transformation to his new girlfriend, Holly Sonders.
“I want to look good and feel good. I have my partner, Holly, who is probably the most beautiful, sexiest woman alive ever, and I have to keep up. But I want to look good for her.
“I have to admit when I met her, I said I was not going to train anymore. I am going to be lazy and enjoy all of my money. But guess what? She motivates me every single day,” he added.
Since shaping his physique, De La Hoya has begun posting several videos with Sonders that have raised many eyebrows. Dressing in nothing but a thong or a robe with a fake mustache, De La Hoya is reliving his youth through the eyes of his 37-year-old partner.
When asked about De La Hoya’s videos at a UFC press conference, Dana White recently gave World Boxing News one word. White would only offer ‘Wow,’ as he admitted to seeing the worst clips.
Detractors have been shocked by the transformation Sonders undertook since meeting De La Hoya in 2022.
