Antonio Margarito’s proposed fight with Manny Pacquiao may take place after all, as the Texas regulators have granted the Mexican fighter a boxing license.

His acceptance comes just weeks after California denied Margarito a license to box by a majority of 5-1. Still, after deliberating till late Thursday, the Texas Department of License and Regulation decided to grant Margarito’s request.

Margarito, banned in January 2009, is a controversial figure.

Antonio Margarito suspension

His suspension came after a plaster-like substance was discovered in his hand wraps after Margarito’s knockout defeat to “Sugar” Shane Mosley that same month.

This development now means that the proposed super fight with Manny Pacquiao on November 13th will go ahead after some trepidation.

Some boxing fans are unhappy the fight is even on the cards, as many say Margarito doesn’t deserve another big payday.

Furthermore, Pacquiao vs. Margarito is scheduled for the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. HBO PPV holds the broadcast rights.

If Pacquiao wins, he can create history by winning a world title in an eighth weight class. His run through the boxing ranks is phenomenal so far.
