Amir Khan wants to finally know where he stands regarding a potential fight with Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather.
With his current situation on hold until the futures of Pacquiao and Mayweather are resolved, Khan is pushing for an answer.
The former world champion was in talks with Pacquiao until Mayweather expressed interest in a rematch with the Filipino, effectively leaving Khan in limbo.
As Khan plans a return to action before a massive UK clash with Kell Brook in 2019, the desire to put an end to the speculation is evident with the Bolton man.
Amir Khan talks to World Boxing News
โListen, Pacquiao and Mayweather are the names I want to fight,โ Khan exclusively told World Boxing News.
โThey are both the names Iโve been chasing. Iโve been very close to making the Pacquiao fight happen years ago but I donโt want to wait around.
โAt the end of the day, Iโm ready for Mayweather or Pacquiao now!
โMaybe we can make it happen early next year but I just donโt think they want to fight me. Mayweather and Pacquiao are just teasing the fans that they are going to be fighting each other.
โBut look, Iโm not teasing anyone. I want to take that fight and I honestly think I would beat them.
โIn Pacquiaoโs case, I have a one hundred percent record against southpaws. I box really well against southpaws. I think my speed will be too much for Pacquiao and it would be like a game of chess.
โWith Mayweather, it would be another game of chess due to in and out movement.
โI know they are both talking about Broner, but I donโt know where his name is coming from. Heโs been beaten Maidana and by Malignaggi โ who didnโt get the decision. Even Molina gave him a hard time.
Pacquiao or Mayweather
โThese are guys I beat, I schooled and now Broner could be having two fights against Pacquiao and Mayweather or getting beat by them. So I think they are looking for an easy route with Broner.”
He continued: โThey seem to be looking after each other. Mayweather probably wants to look after Broner because he knows heโs going to beat him.
“Mayweather has put Pacquiao down to face him first so he can fight him after, but he said the same thing to me.
โI really think they are just dangling carrots now and I just donโt think they are ready to fight me, rather than being honest.
โI spoke to Mannyโs team but heโs also been speaking to four or five other fighters around the world when travelling.
โThe reason I thought our fight would be up there is because I bring more to the table. Iโve got fans all over and the only reason that fight is not happening is that both are afraid.
โThey both know I would give them big problems. But I hate talking about it and I hate chasing them, Iโve made that mistake before. So Iโll just sit back and hope that fight happens.
โIโm not going to waste time. Hopefully, in the next week or two, I will know where Iโm going.
โEddie (Hearn) is a big promoter so maybe he can reach these guys and see if they are talking s*** or not, see if they really want to fight me,” concluded Khan.
BROOK
The 31 year-old previously told WBN he would be open to facing Brook in the summer, potentially at Wembley Stadium.
Any notion of meeting Brook before would be gone due to Anthony Joshua’s booking of the venue in April.
Alternatives could be look at for May, with football grounds in Sheffield and Bolton both options, although Hearn could also consider arenas.
Manchester or The O2, both 20,000 capacity, could fit the bill perfectly – but ultimately hinge on what Pacquiao and Mayweather decide to do next.
