Khan, 28, is hoping to land a Mayweather fight himself at some point in 2015, but will focus his attention on Pacquiao if Miguel Cotto is selected by the ‘Money’ man for a rematch at the middleweight limit in the spring.
“If Floyd doesn’t fight against me or Pacquiao why don’t we fight each other? That would be massive!” Khan told Sky Sports News HQ.
“I want the biggest fights and Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are the biggest names in boxing.
“Styles make fight and with Manny Pacquiao he is a totally different fighter to Mayweather. Mayweather is more of a technician and he will pick the shots, a lot of single punches whereas Manny Pacquiao is the total opposite and he throws combinations, he has a lot of movement and he is very explosive.
I think Manny Pacquiao would cause me more problems than Mayweather would, so it would be a very explosive fight and it would be toe-to-toe at times. It would be a good one to be in.
“We have also trained with each under Freddie Roach so we have that background and sparring sessions together so we could take that into the fight also.
“As I guy I like him, although Floyd is very disrespectful. Manny is a nice guy. We trained together for four or five years and Freddie, his trainer is a nice guy also so I respect him, but this is business and sometimes you have to fight each other.”
Pacquiao was in London this week to meet members of the Royal Family and Khan saw his opportunity to set up a meeting at a gym in the capital of England in order to give Mayweather something to think about.
It’s now, as always, down to Mayweather to make his choice and either give the fans the fight they want โ or face a massive backlash and a further reputation battering if Pacquiao is forced to set-up a UK bout with Khan.
