Twins Andrey (1-0, 1 KO) and Ari Bonilla (1-0) will make a quick return to the ring on October 11 after they were successful in their professional debuts last month.
Both will be featured in 10-round bouts against opponents to be named, defending the WBA and WBC regional titles they won in their 10-round debuts.
Kris Lawrence (The Heavyweight Factory) will promote the event, which will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Prior to debuting, the duo signed with Lawrence in association with Leon Margules and Luis de Cubas Sr. [Warriors Boxing]. The 19-year-olds are not being rushed but are just that good, which they each showed in their pro debuts against much more experienced, seasoned professionals. Each had a very decorated amateur career with both winning at the world level.
Andrey is world-ranked at 118 pounds by the WBA at #11, and Ari at #15 by the WBA at 115 pounds.
The pair discuss their early progress below.
Did you spar 10 rounds multiple times prior to your debuts to prepare?
We sparred up to 16 rounds so we were more than prepared to go the full 10 if necessary and it was for one of our fights which went the 10 round distance.
What was the biggest difference from amateur to professional?
Honestly, there was no difference in terms of the fight itself.
Did the competition of the opponents feel different from the amateur level?
Yes. They had more professional experience and were tough and very game.
Does it feel any different having won a title in your debuts?
It definitely feels different now because the competition is going to continue to get harder in those championship fights.
You are already back in for a quick return to the ring. Are any changes needed for the upcoming fight?
Some things will be the same, but we’re going to have to work even harder now that we’re defending champions.
