Miracle Boxer Ludumo Lamati has announced a miracle baby is on the way following a nightmare in which he could have lost his life.

Lamati fought then-world title contender Nick Ball, who has since become a full champion. The Liverpool man faced Lamati in England on May 27, 2023. The South African barely survived the fight after getting into difficulties after being stopped.

He spent a long time in the hospital, where many feared the worst. However, the fighter that he is, Lamati survived and is now set to become a father with his wife Chay.

Sharing the news, Chay held a newspaper stating, ‘Baby Lamati Coming Soon,’ as the pair beamed in making the announcement public. There is a stark contrast in positivity between where his life could have been last spring and now.

Fellow boxer Mick Conlan responded to Lamati’s news.

“Congratulations, brother. Wishing you guys health and happiness,” said Conlan.

Despite being unable to fight himself, Lamati helps around the gym and inspires the next generation. He does so with the best wishes of the boxing community behind him.

Lamati’s collapse after losing to Ball was shocking and terrifying at the same time. The days after were touch and go as the whole of the sport held its breath that he would pull through. After several deaths, Lamati was one of the lucky ones and can thankfully continue his life and look forward to being a father and family man.

The British ambulance crew’s work at ringside was credited with saving Lamati’s life. They delivered critical oxygen to him during the vital ‘Golden Hour,’ when stricken boxers need it most.

Surgeons removed a blood clot and placed Lamati in an induced coma to help with the swelling. It ultimately gave him a fighting chance. The rest was on Lamati and his spirit and willingness to pull through.

The World Boxing Council praised those efforts in the aftermath.

“Ludumo Lamati managed to win the most crucial battle of his life with great heart, courage, and resilience. This story leaves us with meaningful experiences of togetherness, strength, and empathy. Efforts helped translate for his mother and fiancรฉe to be with Ludumo in the most challenging moments. The World Boxing Council congratulates and recognizes all those who cared for our beloved champion, Ludumo.

โ€œThanks to all of you, Ludumo is now in his country, recovering with his spirit at its highest and ready to resume his life alongside the people he loves.โ€

Congratulations to Ludumo and Chay.
