Floyd Mayweather could get WBC title offer at 48

Floyd Mayweather could get a shot at the WBC welterweight title in 2025 after a one-fight possibility opened up through Premier Boxing Champions.

World Boxing News reported that PBC will announce its third-quarter schedule soon. This schedule will include a Pay Per View that could interest Mayweather.

Rival Manny Pacquiao is set to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title later this year. A defense against Mayweather could be worth millions and highly possible due to their exploits in the most lucrative event of all time in 2015.

In what would be a serious shock to the sport, a Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch with a world title on the line could become an unthinkable reality. Pacquiao has to defeat Barrios for the green and gold strap first, something former opponent Timothy Bradley believes is not impossible.

“Manny Pacquiao is a different animal. Tom Brady always comes out of retirement and does what he does. It’s Manny Pacquiao. Yes, do you worry about him? He’s facing a young guy who is at the best of his abilities right now. Barrios is a good boxer, and he’s strong. But it’s Manny. His C-game and D-game are a lot better than many guys’ A-game,” Bradley told FightHype.

“If Manny’s coming back, he believes he can win, but it will be interesting to see. After seeing him inside the ring last time when he struggled against Ugas, I thought that was enough, but sometimes guys have got to get their a** whooped to say, ” OK, I’m done.”

Pacquiao vs Bradley is a serious possibility for a PPV double-header alongside another huge PBC clash. Late November or December dates are on the table for hosting in Las Vegas. A win for the Filipino great ensures he breaks his own record as the oldest welterweight champion of all time. He initially achieved the feat at 40 against Keith Thurman in 2019.

However, he never defended it. So if he manages to dethrone Barrios at 45, putting the belt on the line against Mayweather in a stunning blockbuster event would be an astonishing turn of events.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao II would have a potential date during Cinco de Mayo 2025, ten years after their first collision. By this time, Floyd will be 48 and could take the record from the ‘Pac-Man.’
