WBC super-flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez will give rival Carlos Cuadras a rematch once he’s taken care of Srikaset Sor Rungvisai on March 18.
‘Chocolatito’ was linked to facing Cuadras again following an entertaining first meeting last September.
However, they chose mandatory obligations, which could eventually lead back to the Mexican.
Roman Gonzalez vs Carlos Cuadras II
“I have no problem giving Carlos Cuadras a rematch. But my focus is on Sor Rungvisai, who is my mandatory for the WBC,” said Gonzalez.
“I have the perfect game plan. On March 18, there will be no surprises. We’re planning to have another great camp for this fight there.
“I feel very confident that I will be victorious for my fans here in Nicaragua and worldwide. Those watching on HBO Pay-Per-View and those in attendance in Madison Square Garden.
“I loved fighting in New York City last time and look forward to March 18 when I return.”
Gonzalez, who once again shares a bill with Gennady Golovkin, confirmed his coaching team for the Rungvisai contest following the sad passing of his trainer.
“With the passing of my long-time trainer Arnulfo Obando, my head trainer will now be my father, Luis Gonzalez. Also in my corner will be Wilmer Hernandez.
“They were both assistants to Arnulfo throughout my career,” he stated.
After guiding Gonzalez to yet another world title, Obando was posthumously named WBN Trainer of the Year for 2016.
