Former Canelo Alvarez opponent Caleb Plant has been added to the Canelo vs Berlanga undercard on September 14 alongside Rolly Romero.

Plant and Romero will fight Trevor McCumby and Manuel Jaimes in separate bouts at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

A former IBF super middleweight world champion, Plant trades blows with McCumby to get back into the world title picture at 168 pounds. Meanwhile, Romero faces Jaimes over ten rounds in the Pay-Per-view opener.

Plant vs McCumby

Discussing his expected inclusion on the Canelo card, Plant said, “It feels good to be back. I’ve had some time away from the ring but used it wisely. But I’ve been in the gym since last June.

“I’ve sparred over 220 rounds in the past year and leading up to this fight. So I’m feeling sharper than ever. I’ve been smoothing the edges of my game. This is the best I’ve ever looked at and the most complete my game has been.

“I think that speaks volumes about what I have left in me to prove. I guarantee that on September 14, you guys will see the best Caleb Plant yet. All I can say is, he’s going to get his a** whooped.”

McCumby, who gets a chance to shine on the big stage after moving to 28-0 earlier this year, aims to beat Plant out of the future PPV reckoning.

“Sports mirror life, and I see Caleb Plant as the symbol for those who are keeping so many down. Now, it’s my job to fight back,” McCumby stated. No matter what resources you have to use against me, I won’t be kept down. I’m inspired by everyone who fights back. That’s the mentality I’m bringing into this matchup on September 14.”

The pair were initially set to battle in 2023 until McCumby suffered a cut.

Canelo vs Berlanga undercard

Plant vs. McCumby and Romero vs. James add to the already announced co-feature, which sees WBA middleweight champion Erislandy Lara defending against Danny Garcรญa.

On those new fights, Premier Boxing Champions said, “The additions of Plant and Romero provide the loaded pay-per-view lineup with two of boxing’s premier trash talkers, highlighting the high-stakes nature of the event that now features five current or former world champions competing across the four bouts.”

Additionally, Canelo vs. Berlanga is live on Prime Video PPV, DAZN, and PPV.com, and tickets are on sale now through AXS.com. In the headliner, Canelo defends his unified WBC, WBA, and WBO super middleweight crown against the number one WBA contender in Berlanga.
