Saul Canelo Alvarez is a generational boxing talent who turned professional at 15 in 2005.

At the age of 21, Canelo won his first world title at super welterweight against Matthew Hatton, making five successful defenses.

In 2013, Canelo unified the titles against Austin Trout before putting both up for grabs against Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas. Losing for the first time, Canelo learned from the defeat before embarking on an exceptional run that included winning the middleweight crown in 2015, another super welterweight belt in 2016, and facing Gennadiy Golovkin for the unified titles at 160 pounds in 2017.

A controversial draw led to a rematch one year later, which again caused debate on the cards. Canelo got the verdict before moving up to super middleweight three months later.

Canelo defeated Sergey Kovalev in 2019 to win the light-heavyweight championship before settling back at 168 pounds in 2020.

A triumph over Callum Smith was the start of a run that included wins over Billy Joe Saunders and Caleb Plant and culminated in Canelo becoming the undisputed champion.

Three defenses followed after Canelo suffered the second defeat of his career against Dmitry Bivol in 2022. Wins over Golovkin in a trilogy, John Ryder and Jermell Charlo cemented Canelo as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.

In May 2024, Canelo enhanced his standing by defeating the 43-0 Jaime Munguia in Las Vegas. Five months later, he defeated Edgar Berlanga, another unbeaten opponent.
