Canelo vs Golovkin 2
Canelo Alvarez overcame another Gennadiy Golovkin onslaught to fight fire with fire and take the middleweight titles in Las Vegas.
Golovkin and Canelo traded leather for the twelve rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in a close barnstorming encounter.
The Mexican changed tactics from the first fight and seemed happy to go toe-to-toe with Golovkin in the center of the ring.
Golovkin used his jab far more, although Canelo’s left hook to the body and head-hunting worked better this time.
Both fighters were cut and bruised in a tight affair, and the result could have gone either way.

The WBN card read 115-113 in favor of GGG but could easily have been a draw or the same score for Canelo.
Consequently, a razor-thin decision meant no massive controversy in the rematch.
Judges carded 115-113 (twice) for Canelo and an even 114-114.
Munguia
A crushing display of painful blows saw Jaime Munguia successfully defend his WBO super-welterweight title. The youngster – just 21 years old, is destined for big things as he builds a reputation as a KO finisher.
Brandon Cook was in the firing line this time. The Canadian had no answer. Munguia had Cook in trouble in every round and finished it with an assault on the ropes in the third.
The third man in the ring Tony Weeks made the right call to stop it.
Lemieux vs O’Sullivan
In a standout performance, David Lemieux continued the KO theme of the night with a superb stoppage of Gary O’Sullivan.
Right from the off, Lemieux looked much more robust in the fight. Despite a straight jab putting him off balance, Lemieux seemed determined to get the Irishman out of there.
The left concussive punch came towards the end of the round, and referee Russell Mora waved it off immediately.
O’Sullivan was clearly in no position to carry on and didn’t know what had hit him.
Speaking to HBO’s Max Kellerman, ex-IBF title holder Lemieux set his sights on facing any of the top middleweights in the world.
Roman Gonzalez
Before Lemieux, former pound-for-pound king Roman Gonzalez is back in the win column following a sickening knockout of Moises Fuentes.
Coming into the fight on the back of two losses against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, promoters matched Gonzalez well to get the victory. Fuentes was coming up from reigns at lower divisions, and Gonzalez had too much power.
Cut from a clash of heads in the second, Fuentes struggled to deal with Gonzalez. The Nicaraguan ended the fight in the fifth with a crushing right hand.
A third fight with Srisaket is touted for Gonzalez. At the same time, a challenge against WBA ruler Kal Yafai could be more likely.
In two rounds, Vergil Ortiz took care of business against former WBC Silver champion Roberto Ortiz. The 20-year-old continued his progress to the top of the rankings and pushed to 11-0 – all by knock out.
Featherweight Brian Ceballo took just 34 seconds to dispatch David Thomas to lay down the fifth professional win of his career. At the same time, Alexis Rocha won an eight-round decision over Carlos Cervantes.
Earlier on the Canelo vs Golovkin 2 bill, super middleweight Jaba Khositashvili carded a six-round unanimous decision.
The 28 year-old beat previously undefeated Lawrence King to improve to 4-0.
