Gervonta Davis will not be returning to the ring before the end of the year following a brief spell in prison following his last bout.
This means the Ryan Garcia Pay Per View victory, which was a ratings smash, could represent Tank’s only fight of 2023.
Davis could make a comeback in December. However, with nothing in the pipeline, it’s far more likely to be early in 2024.
The lightweight star defeated Garcia via TKO but has seen two of his major rivals since agree to face each other at super lightweight.
Devin Haney and Regis Prograis trade blows on December 9, with the WBC championship at 140 pounds on the line.
The pair agreed a deal despite both showing interest in a battle with Davis.

But due to the time delay, any hope of Davis facing either would be on hold until at least April next year. It also sees Davis only fighting three times in two years at the height of his powers.
The jail time didn’t help Davis. However, he had to take some punishment for what was a serious vehicle incident that hurt other members of the public.
Despite initially having a five-year sentence hanging over him, Davis served less than two months behind bars.
For now, Davis will focus on his family life and put his boxing career on the shelf. It may well take a huge offer for Davis to return any earlier than next spring.
“I’m getting my personal life together. I’ll see you all at the top of the year,” said Davis on social media.
At 29-0 and with 27 knockouts to his credit, Davis can sit back safe in the knowledge that he remains one of boxing’s biggest stars. When he does return, interest in his next outing will spike once again.
Fights against Teofimo Lopez, Vasiliy Lomachenko, Josh Taylor, and Shakur Stevenson would all have boxing fans salivating at the prospect.
Premier Boxing Champions will no doubt be aiming to work with the Baltimore native once he does make an official return.
Al Haymon is a long-time advisor of Davis. However, ties with Leonard Ellerbe and Floyd Mayweather are not what they once were.
Davis can pretty much deal with anyone in the sport on his own behalf. That leaves the door ajar for several fan-friendly possibilities.
