Mike Tyson has been assured that former promoter Don King is doing okay following an update on the boxing legend’s health.
Tyson had previously informed fans on his podcast that King was “not doing well right now” and that “He’s probably close to 100 years old.” However, King released a statement to World Boxing News to reveal the contrary.
DK Productions states that King is continuing to work on his latest promotion, as the WBC cruiserweight title fight, which was recently postponed, needs to be rescheduled.
“Hall of Fame boxing promoter Don King wanted to let all his friends and boxing fans know that he is doing fine at his home in Palm Beach County,” King’s company told WBN.
“King is working with the WBC and Three Lions Promotions to get a new date for the WBC World Cruiserweight title match between Noel Mikaelian and Ryan Rozicki.
“Tell everyone I am doing fine and I love Mike Tyson,” added the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ organizer.
King hopes to stage Mikaelian vs. Rozicki before the end of the year following moves to bring Adrien Broner back stalled. WBN understands Broner is unlikely to return in 2025 despite signing a deal with King and promising to be active.
Tyson, the youngest heavyweight champion ever, remains in training to fight against YouTuber Jake Paul on November 15 in a Netflix special.
