Manny Pacquiao is ‘full of it and wasting time’ – says Amir Khan

Amir Khan has informed World Boxing News that he’s frustrated with Manny Pacquiao after a brief meeting in London this weekend.

Speaking to WBN after walking through the streets of England’s capital ahead of the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois fight at Wembley, the Bolton man is not buying what Pacquiao is selling anymore.

In a previous article with WBN, Khan admitted he believes the Filipino superstar is genuinely interested in fighting him. However, Khan isn’t happy with the lack of action. Pacquiao has yet to make an offer despite MP Promotions President Sean Gibbons telling WBN he wanted to open talks with Khan about a fight in the UK this December.

As time ticks away for both former world champions, Khan, 37, wants the 45-year-old boxing legend to get serious and make it official.

“You know what, we’ve been in this position so many times, and I think Manny talks too much,” Khan exclusively told World Boxing News. “He talks but doesn’t deliver.

“Now, anything I’ve ever said in my life, I’ve always delivered. Whether it was Manny Pacquiao and saying, ‘I’m ready to fight you,’ or whether it was the [Floyd] Mayweather fight, which I signed a contract for, and he didn’t sign his side of the contract and pulled out. He fought [Marcos] Maidana instead, a guy who I beat. Then, obviously, I went and fought Canelo [in 2016]. I mean, I’ve never been afraid, and I’ve always fought the biggest names out there. I’ve never been afraid of anything or anyone.

“But with Manny, you never know if one day he’s serious because we’ve been talking about this for such a long time. Look, if he wants it, it can be in London, it can be in Manchester. Wherever it is, it could be anywhere in the world, really, because both of us fighters are big names. We could do a fight, but I just feel that Manny is wasting everyone’s time. That’s the way I see it. He’s wasting time. He’s only getting older, too. It’s not like he’s getting any younger. I heard he looked terrible in his last fight.

“So, respect where it’s due and respect to the guy. He’s a friend as well, and all this name mentioning, I just think he’s full of it, really. I just don’t believe it anymore, so it is what it is,” he added.

Amir Khan meets Manny Pacquiao in UK – “There was no offer”

Khan met with Gibbons after the Pacquiao meeting, which WBN was assured was a business arrangement. It’s now down to both men to review the finer details of getting the UK clash over the line. Pacquiao must also assure Khan of his intentions.

According to Gibbons, Pacquiao is looking for ‘one or two more fights’ and is open to Khan, Conor Benn, or even Kell Brook if the terms are correct.
